Turinabol (Chlorodehydromethyltestosterone, “Tbol,” or Oral Turinabol) is a modified form that combines the chemical structures of Dianabol and Clostebol.
Its chemical name, 4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone, describes this combination.
It earned the nickname “mild Dianabol” because it doesn’t aromatize and has a low androgenic rating.
It was first released in 1962 and was manufactured by Jenapharm in East Germany.

“1mg and 5mg tablets”
Turinabol was favored by medical professionals for its separation of anabolic and androgenic effects and was used not only in adult men but also in women and children.
The 1mg tablets were prescribed to sensitive individuals to help reduce body fat and increase bone strength.
Turinabol was one of the key anabolic steroids in East Germany’s state-sponsored doping program.
From the late 1960s until 1989, it was administered to approximately 10,000 athletes and used as an anabolic steroid that was undetectable at the time.
In 1994, Jenapharm ceased production, and although it was acquired by Schering in 1996, it was not put back into production.
This led to Tbol being regarded as a rare and special steroid.
Currently, there is no pharmaceutical production of this drug; it relies solely on underground lab (UGL) manufacturers.

Turinabol is a modified form of Dbol (Methandrostenolone), combining the chemical structures of Dianabol and Clostebol (4-chlorotestosterone).
Tbol has the general chemical structure of Dianabol with the addition of the 4-chloro substitution from Clostebol.
As a result, Tbol becomes a much milder hormone than Dbol. The alteration in its chemical structure eliminates aromatization into estrogen and weakens its androgenic strength.
Turinabol has a low anabolic rating of 54 and an androgenic rating of 6, which allows for a distinct and favorable separation between its anabolic and androgenic effects.
Its anabolic strength is lower than Dianabol’s rating of 90-210, but this clear separation can be more advantageous for individuals.
Thanks to its chemical modifications, Turinabol has a long half-life of 16 hours and can bind with Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG).
Additionally, it is C17-alpha alkylated to increase oral bioavailability, which imparts a degree of liver toxicity.
Turinabol features a double bond between carbon 1 and carbon 2, which reduces its androgenic strength, and the added chloro group at the 4th carbon blocks aromatization and further lowers its androgenic potency.
Characteristics of Turinabol (Tbol)
Tbol has a clear separation of its androgenic and anabolic effects, making it a weaker anabolic steroid than its parent hormone, Dbol.
However, its androgenic effects are much lower relative to its muscle-building capabilities, and because it does not convert to estrogen, it exhibits no estrogenic effects whatsoever.

Oral Turinabol is known as a ‘mild’ oral anabolic steroid, belonging to the same category as Anavar (Oxandrolone) and Primobolan.

Androgenic Side Effects
Turinabol has low androgenic strength due to its double bond between carbons 1 and 2 and its 4-chloro modification.

Because its anabolic effects are weaker than Dbol’s, bodybuilders do not consider Tbol a mass-gaining drug.
With an anabolic rating about half that of testosterone, a dosage of 40-60mg per day is recommended for beginners.
Dosages exceeding 80-100mg can increase the risk of side effects along with steady weight gain.
Medical dosages are 5-10mg per day, used for patients with muscle-wasting diseases.
Women can start at 1mg and take up to a maximum of 2.5mg.
Historically, the East German weightlifting team used 10g per year (27mg per day), and sprinters used 730mg per year (less than 2mg per day) of Turinabol.
Beginners may use 30-40mg per day, intermediate users 50-80mg, and advanced and professional users can go 80-100mg or more, but extreme doses like 150mg can cause side effects, making it better to choose a more effective androgen.
A dosage of 5-10mg per day is appropriate for women; abuse can lead to permanent symptoms like acne, aggression, and virilization.
Turinabol’s half-life is 16 hours, which is longer than Dianabol’s (4.5-6 hours), so it can be taken once a day.
Turinabol Cycle Protocols
Turinabol is typically used in conjunction with other anabolic steroids and, as a mild compound, it lowers the user’s natural testosterone levels.
