Clomid Dosage
Clomid is the most popular endogenous testosterone mimicking compound within the anabolic steroid using community.
This is partly because it has been on the market for so long, as well as being one of the first infertility treatments (for both men and women) that anabolic steroid users took notice of.
Despite the fact that Nolvadex has been proven to be overall superior in its ability to stimulate testosterone levels in men, Clomid still remains a staple compound for hormonal recovery during PCT for the vast majority of anabolic steroid users.
Although there are some issues and hindrances associated with the action of Clomid, using Clomid and Nolvadex together can provide additional effects for HPTA (Hypothalamic Pituitary Testicular Axis) recovery during the post-cycle period, but we will get to that shortly.
For example, Clomid dosage versus Nolvadex must generally be in a higher range for this compound to perform its role in the body, as it is not as potent as its sibling compound, Nolvadex, which will be explained shortly.
In regards to Clomid dosage for the purpose of HPTA and endogenous testosterone restoration, one study demonstrated that the administration of 150mg of Clomid (clomiphene citrate) daily resulted in an increase in endogenous testosterone levels of approximately 150% in 10 healthy men, incidentally, 20mg of Nolvadex (tamoxifen citrate) daily resulted in an increase of the same amount as well [1].
It is very clear here that Clomid is very effective for this purpose, but it seems to be the less cost-effective option seeing as Nolvadex is more effective than Clomid.
Nevertheless, Clomid can still be a very useful compound for hormonal recovery, as 100mg daily should theoretically increase testosterone levels up to 100% over baseline, and 50mg should increase testosterone levels up to 50% over baseline.
In a study of 178 hypogonadal men suffering from Erectile Dysfunction (ED) who were administered Clomid for four months, 75% of the subjects experienced improvement while 25% did not, and all subjects experienced a significant increase in LH, FSH, and testosterone production [2].
This study also noted that only a modest increase in sexual function was observed when administered in the short term.
It is quite clear that Clomid can be utilized as an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction in the majority of men in the long term as well.
Before looking into further details, an important caution must be given to the reader:
SERMs or anti-estrogens should only be used when absolutely necessary and discontinued as soon as the reason for use, such as gynecomastia or lack of androgen production, subsides.
Medical Clomid Dosage
Clomid (clomiphene citrate) is used in the medical field primarily for the treatment of ovulatory dysfunction (female infertility), preventing issues for women attempting to conceive.
The Clomid dosage prescribed for this purpose is in the range of 50mg per day, and Clomid administration should begin 5 days after the start of the menstrual cycle.
Following this, Clomid intake should only continue for 5 days.
If no improvement in ovulation is observed, the Clomid dosage should be increased to 100mg daily for the same 5-day period.
In most cases, if the first few treatments are ineffective, medical professionals will instruct the patient to repeat the aforementioned cycle for an average of 6 cycles.
Clomid Dosage During Anabolic Steroid Use
Although Nolvadex is a more potent, suitable, and powerful choice for on-cycle gynecomastia mitigation than Clomid, Clomid can indeed be used for this purpose as well.
However, Nolvadex should be the first choice for this purpose among anabolic steroid users, and it is generally the only choice among experienced anabolic steroid users.
For on-cycle gynecomastia prevention/reduction purposes
Although Clomid dosage is not typically used to prevent the onset of gynecomastia during an anabolic steroid cycle, the Clomid dosage for this purpose during an anabolic steroid cycle is approximately 50 – 100mg daily.
Some individuals have found that the Clomid dosage may need to be higher, even beyond 100mg daily, due to the fact that its efficacy as an estrogen antagonist in breast tissue is very weak compared to Nolvadex.
Female Clomid Dosage
Female anabolic steroid users should generally have no requirement for Clomid use, as breast tissue growth (gynecomastia) is not an issue among female athletes, and women do not experience issues with lack of testosterone production as they do not require the same normal physiological levels of testosterone as men.
Although bodybuilders are known to use Clomid for various purposes leading up to a contest, females are advised not to engage in this practice as Clomid (especially in pre-menopausal women) can cause several serious and very uncomfortable side effects.
Clomid Dosage for Increased Endogenous Testosterone Secretion and PCT (Post Cycle Therapy)
The fact that Clomid is an effective HPTA and endogenous testosterone stimulant is well-documented and has been covered extensively throughout this profile so far.
The fact that Clomid is less effective as an estrogen antagonist in breast tissue compared to its effectiveness at restoring hormonal function is the reason why it is used among anabolic steroid users primarily for the latter reason only.
However, it is still important to note that mg for mg, Nolvadex is far superior to Clomid.
Generally for this reason, if an individual still insists on using Clomid, it should be included in a composite PCT program alongside Nolvadex and HCG (in many cases, the use of an Aromatase Inhibitor will also be included to mitigate the estrogenic effects of HCG administration).
The standard Clomid dosage for PCT (for the purpose of stimulating the release of GnRH (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone), LH, FSH, and ultimately testosterone) is 50–100mg daily.
Proper Administration and Timing of Clomid Intake
There is nothing particularly special to consider regarding Clomid intake.
It can be taken before, with, or after a meal.
It can also be taken in the morning or at night.
Due to Clomid’s long half-life of 5–7 days, it is preferable to take the entire dose at once rather than splitting it up throughout the day, which is mostly unnecessary.
Expectations and Results from Clomid Use
Clomid generally acts as an effective endogenous testosterone production stimulating compound, making it ideal for proper hormonal recovery following the conclusion of an anabolic steroid cycle.
While it can be used for the treatment or reversal of early-developing gynecomastia, it is not recommended due to its inferior ability to achieve these effects, and Nolvadex is the preferred agent between the two.
